In the quiet but vibrant neighborhood of Ndeiya, Limuru, Kiambu County, a powerful story of friendship, passion, and resilience has birthed one of the most promising upcoming music bands in Kenya—The Swag.
The group is made up of three childhood friends—Billy Boy, Wama K, and G Boy—who grew up together in the same hood. What united them early on was their shared love for music. As teenagers, they would spend hours freestyling, writing lyrics, and dreaming of the big stage.
In 2020, their dream took form when they officially came together as The Swag and recorded their debut track “Tunaconfirm.” The song was warmly received in Kiambu County, earning them invitations to perform at various events across the region. It was a strong start for the youthful trio, who quickly began to make a name for themselves in the local entertainment scene.
However, like many budding artists, the journey was not without challenges. The band later took a break to focus on personal growth and financial stability, as music had not yet broken even for them. Even during this period away from the spotlight, the three never lost touch with their passion. They continued writing songs, experimenting with freestyles, and preparing for the day they would make a grand comeback.
That comeback arrived late last year, and this time, The Swag is making bigger moves. The trio is currently working on several projects with established artists, including Virusi Mbaya, Gherro Flavor, and Mungai Frankie. Their latest single, “Unanikasirishanga,” produced and mastered by Donjo Maber hitmaker WakaWaka, is already available on YouTube and across major music streaming platforms.
Speaking to Kiambu Daily News, the group emphasized that their new releases reflect years of dedication, creativity, and hard work:
“We want our fans to feel the growth and commitment we’ve been putting into our music. This is just the beginning—there’s so much more lined up.”
The Swag has also announced that their next release, dropping next month, will feature Virusi Mbaya, a collaboration that is expected to boost their profile even further.
With big dreams and unrelenting determination, the trio is setting its sights on taking Kenyan music to the international stage. They are urging fans to stay tuned and continue supporting their journey.

As they put it, “This is just the beginning.”
