There were beautiful scenes of joy, songs of praise, and heartfelt gratitude at Kiambu Level V Hospital’s maternity wing on Thursday, 10th October, as mothers celebrated a special Mazingira Day.
The county government officials visited the maternity wing to celebrate new mothers who had successfully delivered their babies. A total of 25 mothers were joyfully discharged and presented with gift hampers from the County Government of Kiambu as part of the celebration.
The initiative, which forms part of Governor Wamatangi’s ongoing healthcare reforms, aims to ensure that every mother delivers with dignity and confidence, while enhancing service delivery across all county health facilities.
During the celebration, emotional moments filled the ward as beneficiaries expressed their gratitude. One of them, Mary Wambui from Gitiha, gave a touching testimony about her daughter’s unexpected delivery. She recounted being called to the hospital after her high school daughter went into labour — a situation that caught the family completely by surprise.
“I didn’t know where to start or what to do, but I thank Governor Wamatangi’s healthcare programme and the medical team for their support. I truly thank God and the county government for the care we received,” said Mary, visibly emotional.
Another mother, Jane Mwangi, who had just delivered her second set of twins, expressed deep appreciation for the services at the facility. “The doctors and nurses have been very kind and professional. I am grateful to the county government for the good care,” she said.
The atmosphere was filled with songs, celebration, and thanksgiving as mothers expressed satisfaction and confidence in the hospital’s services.
Governor Wamatangi has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving health services across Kiambu County. On Sunday he urged residents to ignore misinformation and assured them that county hospitals are fully operational, well-equipped, and delivering quality care to the people of Kiambu.
The Mazingira Day celebration at Kiambu Level V Hospital served as a strong statement of the county’s ongoing investment in healthcare, reinforcing public trust and showcasing the continuous improvement of services across Kiambu.
