Inooro FM’s celebrated presenter Jeff Kuria has been ranked as the most popular Kikuyu radio presenter, according to a newly released nationwide survey by research firm Infotrak. The report, which gauged the popularity of radio personalities across Kenya, placed Jeff Kuria sixth overall, earning a national rating of 2%.
Jeff Kuria, who commands a strong following through his morning show Hagaria on Inooro FM, stood out as the leading Kikuyu-language radio presenter in the survey. His unique style, consistent presence, and ability to connect with a wide demographic of listeners—particularly among Kikuyu speakers—have earned him a loyal fanbase.
Close behind Kuria was Kameme FM’s comedian-turned-pastor Muthee Kiengei, who also garnered a 2% rating and was ranked as the second most popular Kikuyu radio presenter. Kiengei’s blend of humor and gospel-driven content has also made him a household name, particularly in Central Kenya.
At the top of the national rankings were Gidi na Ghost of Radio Jambo, who posted an impressive 8%, followed by Classic 105’s Maina Kageni with 5%, Radio 47’s Alex Mwakideu with 3%, and Fred Arocho and Eva Mwalili, who both tied at 2%.
The Infotrak survey sheds light on the evolving media consumption habits in the country and the strong influence vernacular radio continues to hold, especially in regions like Mt. Kenya. Jeff Kuria’s position on the list is a testament to his impact in the Kikuyu media landscape and his growing influence beyond vernacular radio.
Kuria, who also commands a significant following on social media and YouTube, has over the years positioned himself not just as a broadcaster but as a voice of the people—often hosting local leaders, youth changemakers, and community influencers on his platforms.
The recognition by Infotrak has been met with celebration by his fans, colleagues in the industry, and supporters of vernacular radio, affirming Jeff Kuria’s role as a key player in Kenya’s radio scene.
