Kikuyu Constituency MP aspirant Surveyor Stephen Kigathi Kionywe has come out strongly to dismiss what he terms as “cheap propaganda and baseless rumors” claiming that he has defected from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) to join another political outfit.
In a firm statement issued on Thursday, Kigathi rubbished the claims, describing them as part of a coordinated smear campaign by a desperate group threatened by his growing political influence and popularity on the ground.
“Once again, a desperate cohort has resorted to fake narratives and cheap propaganda, claiming that I have joined another party. Let it be known clearly and without any doubt — I am a firm, loyal, and committed member of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP). I continue to stand strong for the values and ideals of our great party and the people I represent,” said Kigathi.
Same Old Tactics, Same Old Desperation
The fiery aspirant reminded his critics that this is not the first time they have attempted to discredit him using falsehoods. He recalled that during the 2022 elections, the same political operatives spread similar lies, alleging that he had abandoned his parliamentary bid to support an Azimio candidate.
“In 2022, they said the same things — that I had withdrawn to support another candidate. But I went all the way to the ballot and proved them wrong. History is simply repeating itself — same people, same lies, same desperation,” Kigathi said.

“Why Do They Fear Kigathi So Much?”
The Kikuyu MP hopeful posed tough questions to his critics, wondering why his name has become the center of every rumor and attack.
“Why do they fear Kigathi so much? Why fight me and not the incumbent? Why do I give them sleepless nights?” he asked. “The answer is simple — because I am powerful, focused, and I represent the true voice of the people.”
He added that his consistent engagement with residents, youth, and business communities has made him one of the most grounded and visionary leaders in Kikuyu Constituency, a factor that has unsettled his opponents.
Demanding Proof
Kigathi went further to challenge those spreading the rumors to produce evidence, telling them to stop peddling gossip without facts.
“We challenge those spreading lies to bring evidence — watupe hizo picha wanazoongea juu yake. Otherwise, let them keep their idle talk while we keep working for Wanjiku,” he declared.
A Loyal DCP Soldier
Surveyor Kigathi Kionywe reaffirmed that he remains “DCP to the core,” deeply committed to the party’s mission of empowering citizens and championing clean leadership. He noted that his actions, alliances, and public engagements all demonstrate his loyalty to the DCP cause.
“Propaganda will fade, but truth and leadership will always stand tall. My focus remains on serving the people of Kikuyu and advancing the DCP agenda of real change and accountability,” Kigathi said.
Grounded and Active in DCP Mobilization
Contrary to the claims, Kigathi has been one of DCP’s most active mobilizers both on the ground and online. He was notably the first Kikuyu Constituency aspirant to visit former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence — a move that cemented his visibility and influence within Mt. Kenya’s political circles.
He has also been at the forefront of DCP mobilization, leading community engagements, grassroots sensitization programs, and youth empowerment drives across Kikuyu Constituency.
Insiders within the DCP say that the propaganda is being fueled by a rival aspirant with no tangible grassroots base, who is allegedly seeking to buy political attention and possibly a nomination ticket through deception and misinformation.
“We Keep Working for Wanjiku”
As the 2027 elections draw nearer, it’s evident that Kigathi’s rising star continues to unsettle established political figures. But for the man himself, the mission remains unchanged: serve the people, stay loyal to DCP, and fight for justice and progress in Kikuyu.
“Let them talk — we keep working for Wanjiku. The people know the truth, and no amount of propaganda will erase it,” concluded Kigathi.
