Nairobi, Kenya – Monday, August 25, 2025
After their spirited run at the just-concluded CHAN 2025 tournament, where they reached the quarterfinals for the first time in history, Harambee Stars have now turned their attention to the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
Kenya will resume their qualification campaign with two crucial back-to-back home fixtures at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. The Stars will face Gambia on Friday, September 5th, at 4:00 pm, before hosting Seychelles on Tuesday, September 9th, at 4:00 pm.
Currently, Harambee Stars sit fourth in Group F, which is led by continental giants Ivory Coast. The standings are as follows:
• Ivory Coast
• Gabon
• Burundi
• Kenya
• Gambia
• Seychelles
With only the group winners guaranteed a place at the World Cup and the best runners-up progressing to the playoffs, these upcoming matches are must-win fixtures if Kenya is to keep its qualification hopes alive.
The CHAN tournament may have ended in heartbreak after a penalty shootout loss to Madagascar, but Harambee Stars’ performance has rekindled belief among Kenyans. Their resilience and passion lifted the spirit of the nation, and football lovers are now expected to rally once more at Kasarani to push the team forward.
Coach and players alike have promised to carry the same fighting spirit from CHAN into the World Cup qualifiers. “CHAN gave us belief, and now we must build on that momentum. The fans have been incredible — we want to give them even more to celebrate,” one senior player said.
With the backing of passionate supporters and the lessons learned from CHAN, all eyes will be on Harambee Stars to see if they can climb the Group F ladder and stake a claim for a historic place at the global stage.
The journey continues — and Kenya’s World Cup dream is alive.
