Today, 26th September, members of the Jubilee Party converged at the Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi for a Special National Delegates Convention (NDC) to deliberate on the party’s shared plans, shape its national agenda, and address key internal affairs and political affiliations.
The convention, chaired by His Excellency the 3rd retired President and Party Leader, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, re-affirmed the party’s unity of purpose and its commitment to championing a vision that reflects the aspirations of its members and the people of Kenya.
Among the notable attendees was former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is widely believed to be preparing for a major role in the party. Sources within the convention hinted that Matiang’i could be the party’s presidential flag bearer in the 2027 General Election. His presence drew excitement among delegates, signaling a new chapter in Jubilee’s political journey.
In his address, Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta reminded delegates of Jubilee’s achievements while in government, contrasting them with the current leadership. He emphasized that the party remains firmly in the opposition and continues to be part of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
Uhuru stressed that Jubilee will only engage in clean politics, rooted in calls for unity and peace among Kenyans. He announced that in the coming weeks, the party will begin grassroots engagements to listen to and align with the needs of the people. He further reiterated that Jubilee is a national party and discouraged the formation and entrenchment of regional political outfits.
This position comes at a time when competition is intensifying in the Mt. Kenya region, with Jubilee and the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) both seeking to consolidate their influence as the region’s dominant political vehicle.
The convention concluded with a renewed sense of direction, as the party looks ahead to repositioning itself as a key player in Kenya’s political landscape ahead of 2027.
