The Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordinator, Dennis Itumbi, has strongly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of spreading falsehoods. Itumbi’s remarks come after Gachagua, during a church service in Kitengela, Kajiado County, alleged that Bomas of Kenya had been sold to a Turkish national.
According to Itumbi, the former DP deliberately misled the public and, worse, did so from a church pulpit. “It is wrong to lie, and even worse to do so on a pulpit infront of the clergy,” Itumbi remarked, adding that this was not the first time Gachagua had made misleading statements.
False Claims About Cabinet Meetings
Itumbi further refuted Gachagua’s claim that he was the only one who opposed President William Ruto during Cabinet meetings. He revealed that Gachagua only spoke seven times in the two years he was in Cabinet, and out of those instances, he actively debated only once.
The debate in question, Itumbi said, was about coffee farmers’ payments. He alleged that Gachagua opposed direct payments to farmers and instead pushed for payments through other firms—an approach Itumbi suggested might have involved personal interests.
Gachagua Accused of Inattention in Cabinet Meetings
In a shocking revelation, Itumbi claimed that Gachagua was often disengaged during Cabinet meetings, spending most of his time on his phone, checking WhatsApp messages and memes. He justified his claims by stating that Cabinet sessions are now digitized, with e-Cabinet systems in place, and that audio recordings exist to back up his allegations.
The Truth About Bomas of Kenya
On the issue of Bomas of Kenya, Itumbi clarified that the government is not selling the historic institution but rather transforming it into a world-class conference and events center under the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) model. He dismissed Gachagua’s claims as baseless and misleading.
“Ukweli Itoke”: Itumbi’s New Podcast to Expose Lies
Itumbi also announced the launch of his new podcast, Ukweli Itoke, System ya Fact, where he promised to expose falsehoods and misinformation. He vowed to continue revealing the truth and holding public figures accountable for their statements.
Who Is Telling the Truth?
Following these revelations, Kenyans have been left questioning who is telling the truth—Gachagua or Itumbi? As the debate rages on, only time will reveal the facts behind the ongoing political drama.
